Thank You…
May 8th, 2009
…to everyone who disagreed with yesterday’s post (or with each other) for doing so with such energy, good-humor, wit and intelligence. It’s fun to rant once in a while, but it’s also healthy to have that rant thouroughly tested from every direction. You guys are the best.
Off to Toronto now with the whole family. More news after the weekend.
While there were a lot of great arguments, but I’m compelled by yours. I’m seriously considering changing the format of my comic to wide rather than tall a la 300. I guess it’s a good thing I havent’s started drawing it yet. It’s funny, I don’t recall you addressing this topic in any of your books. Have you?
Have fun in Toronto!
Ditto. It was a great discussion. My next big project will be a landscape comic with right arrow key activations for new panels/pages. The talk really helped get my brain going! A rough script is done, and now I’m just scouting for artists.
Also, while in Toronto, try to get the scoop on the Scott Pilgrim movie!

Any thoughts from anyone on a square format. Just flipping through the Goldfish book by Neil Gaiman and Dave Mckean and it seems like an interesting idea. Can’t think of ever seeing a comic in a square format.
Check out “American Born Chinese.” It’s a Graphic novel, but each page has a square design centered in the white.

Thanks Matt. I just checked our some images on Google. Do you happen to know at what size it was published or what the dimensions of the square are?
Sorry, I don’t know the specifics. I checked it out from the library, and so I don’t own a copy. It’s a great read, and I highly recommend it. You can find it at most libraries/bookstores, and if all else fails– Amazon.com
